ABOUT US
TURN BACK THE CLOCK AND JOIN US FOR A FEW INNINGS
The Charlottesville Retreads are a senior softball team for men 55+ and women 40+. We play practically year round (when weather allows) with intrasquad scrimmage games twice a week, and also have a travel team that plays during the spring and summer. As we say on the homepage, if you're interested in comraderie and competing on the field, then grab your glove and join us for a game or two.
And if you really get into playing softball with us–which we certainly hope so–then there's a modest due (determined annually) that we ask of each player. As a non profit, it's our way of passing the hat to help keep us on the field every year.
If you haven’t played for 20-30 years, you'll fit right in. Safety is our top priority. You are encouraged to do stretching exercises before practice. Pitching screens are used during batting practice and regular games.

HOW OLD WOULD YOU BE IF YOU DIDN'T KNOW HOW OLD YOU ARE?

LOCATION
DARDEN TOWE PARK IS OUR VERSION OF WRIGLEY OR FENWAY
Darden Towe Park in Charlottesville is home turf for all scrimmage games and home field for our senior travel team. Darden is located off Route 20 North, about 1/4 mile from Pantops 250 bypass. The Elks Club will be on your left as you drive in & tennis courts on your right. Drive back and make a right at the first T to the parking area, which is located above the ball fields.
We have warm-ups and batting practice at 9 AM every Tuesday and Thursday from March (55 degrees) until late October. The warm-ups are followed by a 7 inning scrimmage game & a second game dependent on heat. First pitch at 9:30. Cooler spring weather start time 10 AM, or 1 PM.
Once a month Senior teams from Richmond & Lynchburg travel here for two 7 inning doubleheaders. The 3rd Tuesday of the month we travel to Richmond and the last Monday we travel to Lynchburg.
